Rogier is the consummate corporate finance executive with a penchant for helping entrepreneurial organizations commercialize and thrive. He has demonstrated a career-long ability to strike exactly the right balance between careful risk management and the kind of responsive, opportunistic deal-making that drives growth.
Having worked closely with Velocity Capital CEO Willem Willemstein for more than a decade as a trusted corporate finance advisor, Rogier has been at Willem’s side through a number of successful IPO, M&A and LBO transactions. As chief financial officer for Velocity Capital, Rogier is intimately involved in all of the private equity and venture capital dealings of the firm, spanning both real estate and financial technology investments.
Before joining Velocity Capital in 2009, Rogier led the Asian rollout of a successful currency fund for the Belgian Bank Fortis Bank. Prior to Fortis, he was head of corporate finance and treasury at Petroplus, a publicly-traded oil refining company co-founded by Willem. He started his career at Royal Vopak.
Rogier’s role at Velocity Capital also enables him to exercise two keen personal interests: his enthusiasm for travel, which has taken him to all corners of the globe, as well as his strong affinity for new technologies that power our financial systems.
Rogier holds an MA in Business Economics from Groningen University (Finance, Investments and Accounting). He is fluent in English, French and German and is an ardent bicyclist, sailor, skier and, more recently, marathon runner.
